Wellbeing and support

Most GP practices in Newcastle have identified a Wellbeing Champion, and practices across the city have been given funding and signposted to services and training to support the wellbeing of staff while they are at work.

These are some of the courses and support currently available:

North East and North Cumbria Staff Wellbeing Hub

The Hub provides support for health and care staff across the region which can be accessed directly by staff or through manager and occupational health or wellbeing service referrals.

  • Wellbeing Toolkit
  • Wellbeing offers including, yoga, mindfulness, CBT for insomnia.

Financial wellbeing

We recognise that this is a difficult time for our NHS people and we know that many of you have financial concerns. We’ve been working with the MoneyHelper Service (formerly the Money and Pensions Service or Money Advice Service), an organisation who work to improve peoples financial wellbeing across the UK, to provide you with free, independent support. A Wellbeing Action Plan can help with documenting and understanding your own wellbeing, and a way forward , and includes tips for a healthy working environment.

Getting a coach

For our Primary Care staff, individual coaching is available with a skilled and experienced career coach. The aim of the service is to provide an easy-to-access, individually tailored coaching service that focuses on supporting you with your career choices. You can also book a coach to get support with looking after your mental health and wellbeing. They will listen, ask questions and support you to develop practical coping strategies and stay well. Download our guide to how a coach can help you look after yourself.

A coach can also help if you manage a team or lead a service. They can help you think about and plan how you work with the people you lead and manage, using approaches centered in compassionate and collaboratiuve team leadership. Download our coaching guide to looking after your team.
