CPR & AED Training
This 2-hour, accredited, CPR training is open to all Newcastle member practices and generates a statutory/mandatory training certificate. Training takes place at Northumbria University, Coach Lane Campus, NE7 7XA.

1st Thursday of every month, 9-10am (Online)

NMC Drop In Sessions – Academic and Practice Learning Partners
1st Wednesday of every month, 12.30-1.30pm
The NMC now have facilitated NMC drop-in sessions every month. These sessions provide a space for staff to drop in and speak to NMC colleagues. Each session is facilitated by colleagues across Nurse and Midwifery Education advisors, Education QA, Employer link service and a standards specialist. Please note they are unable to provide clinical advice in these sessions, as this is not within their regulatory role.

OLIVER MCGOWAN MANDATORY TRAINING
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training aims to provide the health and care workforce with the right skills and knowledge to provide safe, compassionate and informed care to autistic people and people with a learning disability. The Health and Care Act 2022 introduced a requirement that regulated CQC registered service providers must ensure their staff receive training on learning disability and autism that is appropriate to their role.

Diabetic foot screening
One to one or group training available to nursing teams by podiatrist Julie Wiper. This training will take place at Denton Park and sometimes at Geoffrey Rhodes depending on room availability. If there is a group of 5+ at your practice needing the training, Julie can come to your practice. We only ask that you organise your own patients to attend part of the session staff to practice on.

The Primary Care Training Hub have commissioned a range of courses for the nursing workforce, and the document below outlines these, providing access to a range of online resources which have been identified by the nursing workforce as areas in which they require further development. This can be used by individuals within the nursing workforce, or by practices, PCNs or line managers to support the development of their nursing workforce, to ensure access to the skills, education and training needed.

The Skills for Health website have updated their comprehensive guide on how to effectively apply the educational and clinical resources within the General Practice Nursing (GPN) Core Career and Capabilities Framework. All resources are free to download and access. Skills for health frameworks have been updated on the website to include publication of guidance on minor ailments, Asthma and a new educational resource developed on Men’s health.
