Our Flexipool service offers practices access to trained, skilled and experienced clinical and non-clinical staff, capable of working in a number of roles. You can request staff to cover planned leave, existing vacancies and short-notice unplanned absence.
We also have a hub of volunteers available for practices for roles such as Patient Meet and Greet, NHS App Support and Prescription Transport. For more information see our volunteering in practice page.
requesting a member of staff
To request a member of staff, please complete a Flexipool Staff Request Form.
We’ll need to know the following:
- Role
- Start date
- Start and end times of shifts and days of the week required
- Description of duties
- Contract hours
- Contract duration
Once you have completed the form, we will be in touch to match your request with one of our team.
The Flexipool team members will have completed an informal interview and induction process with NGPS, in addition to all relevant and statutory and mandatory training required for the role. You’ll have the opportunity to meet anyone we put forward to make sure they are a good fit for your practice.
roles
The following roles are currently available for practices to request:
- Admin/receptionist
- Medical secretary
- Practice Nurse
- Registered general nurse
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner
- Health Care Associate
- Phlebotomist
- GP
Pay and contract
All Flexipool staff will hold a zero-hours contract with NGPS and are paid monthly by NGPS. For those who don’t currently work in general practice, pay is set at an hourly rate by role type, plus holiday pay. NGPS will then invoice practices to reclaim staff costs.
Cancelling a member of staff
If a staff member is not quite the right fit for your practice, that is no problem at all, please let us know by emailing ngps.flexipool@nhs.net AND calling the Duty Manager on 07736 926 016 if urgent. Please provide as much information as possible so that we can appropriately manage the staff member and arrange a replacement.
