The Flexipool service provides staff to 28 GP practices across Newcastle, as well as our Enhanced Access and Winter Resilience Service.
We are currently recruiting for the following roles:
- GP
- Admin/receptionist
- Health Care Assistant

- Registered General Nurse
- Phlebotomist
- Medical Secretary
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner
We’re looking for people able to work part-time or full-time (weekdays and Saturdays), and for short-term and long-term contracts, including last-minute cover for sickness, holiday cover and filling staff vacancies.

We’re also looking for volunteers who can support general practice. 100s of people joined us as volunteers in our hugely successful Covid Vaccination programme, and we’re looking to continue this model of support for the NHS.

To apply to join the Flexipool team, please complete an Expression of Interest Form.
If you are applying for a GP role, please complete the GP Expression of Interest Form.
If you are applying for an Admin role, please complete the Admin Expression of Interest Form.
Once we have received your form we will shortlist applicants and, if you’re successful, we will get in touch for an informal interview and to discuss any training needs and additional information required. You will need to provide two references, relevant qualification certificates and a DBS certificate (if you have one).
If you don’t have any qualifications or a DBS certificate, we can help you with those. We offer appropriate training for Admin/Reception staff and Health Care Assistant roles to help people get into employment in general practice. We also offer training to registered general nurses who are looking to work in general practice. The training offered could be baby immunisation, smear training or phlebotomy training. We also provide Statutory and Mandatory training for all staff if required.

If you’re already employed in a contract in general practice, the recruitment process will be slightly different. Please still complete a form and we will be in touch to talk to you about joining the Flexipool team.

Contract and hours
Once part of the Flexipool team, you will be working under a zero-hours contract, employed and paid by NGPS. You will need to submit timesheets via the online pay system, QuickBooks.
Pay
Pay rates for each role are detailed below. This includes holiday pay as these rates are an uplift on typical pay rates. You will not be enrolled in the NHS pension scheme.

All staff roles except GPs accrue holiday pay/balance and have the option of opting into a Nest pension fund.
Training
All new starters get an induction and statutory and mandatory training (including safeguarding, infection control, and CPR). We do provide additional training for specific role types which we will discuss at interview and post interview stages.
